Joseph (Joe) Berger assumed the newly created role of Area President – Americas for Hilton Worldwide in May of 2008. In this capacity, Berger is responsible for the operations functions of over 350 corporately managed Hilton Worldwide hotels and Hilton Grand Vacation resorts throughout North, Central and South America. He reports directly to Ian Carter, Hilton Worldwide’s President – Global Operations.
Prior to his current position with Hilton, Berger served as co-president of LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels, where he managed the formation and growth of this enterprise for more than four years. Under his direction, the company repositioned several iconic properties to create one of the most profitable resort and hotel operations in the industry. Previously, he served as president of Prime Hotels, which operated AmeriSuites, Wellesley Inns and independent full-service hotels.
Earlier in his career, Berger served as Managing Director of the world-famous St. Francis hotel in San Francisco, Area Managing Director Northeast for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, as well as General Manager of both the Westin William Penn in Pittsburgh and the Fairmont San Francisco hotel. He also worked in hotel operations and finance with Marriott International in Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich and Warsaw.
Berger, who is a native of Virginia, currently resides in Connecticut with his wife Beth and three sons. He maintains offices at Hilton Worldwide’s McLean, Virginia headquarters as well as in New York City.
